Karl L. Zengel II

 

In 1964, Karl L. Zengel II, was born into the third generation of a family construction company located to the south of Dayton, Ohio. After working his summers as a framing carpenter he enrolled & then graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He worked breifly with a Cincinnati architect before returning to Zengel Construction Company to assume the design duties. In 2011, after 21 years, he left to establish his own practice.

 

He has worked almost exclusively in the residential realm, designing private homes, patio homes, attached homes, home additions & alterations. His work exhibits clean lines and flowing space accented with the purposeful use of color & texture. Views are maximized and daylight abundant. Always a student of architecture his use of proportion and scale reflect the discipline of mid-century modernist and a respect for classic traditionilst. He masterfully manipulates materials and details that bring surprise and delight inside & out.
